Temporary Approximately 6 weeks
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Lead position. Responsible for internal cash control, collection of third party payments and patient billings associated record keeping, light bookkeeping and key entry of billing data.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Completes third-party claim forms for patient’s visit for:
- Medicare
- Private Insurance
- Champus
Bills self-pay and sliding scale patients.
Assures completion of Medi-Cal, SOFP, CHDP, and EAPC claim forms (or bills electronically). Reviews claims for accuracy prior to sending.
Monitors EOBs and Remittance Advices for accuracy.
Assures that all revenues are recorded.
Follows up on unpaid claims to identify those that need to be rebilled, or, if no payment activity for six months, reviews with executive Director for possible bad debt write-off.
Rebills all unpaid self-pay accounts monthly.
Runs Month-end close procedures and prepares monthly Accounts Receivable reports that correspond with the month-end.
Responsible for maintaining a library of current billing manuals and billing protocols by payor. Provides training to staff on new billing procedures.
Handles patient inquiries. Investigates patient complaints regarding their accounts.
Responsible for maintaining a liaison with management of the Megawest computer system. Orders supplies for system as needed. Provides periodic training to staff on new Megawest procedures.
Assures entry of billing information.
Attends and participates in staff meetings and training sessions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelors Degree
2. Knowledge of:
- Medical Terminology
- Medical Claim Billing procedures.
- CPT-4 and ICD-9-CM coding systems.
3. Ability to communicate effectively with the public;
4. Minimum 5 years experience required.
